Reading faced Pittsford in their home opener. It was a struggle for the Lady Rangers as they dropped both games 16-3, and 16-15. The Rangers were without 7 of their 17 players due to other commitments. The remaining players fought hard and competed valiantly even though many were asked to play positions they have never played before. Coach Lamb said, “I am very proud of our young ladies and the way they competed today. We put a lot of them in tough situations and they responded with a positive attitude and they stuck together like a true team.”
Jenna Rubley was 4 for 4 in the second game with two RBIs. Karissa Shay, who was also called in to pitch for the first time in her career, came up with the bases loaded and two outs and hit a 3 RBI triple. Emilee Burger was able to get on base safely 8 straight at bats during the double-header. Also Hannah Reichhart and Courtney McCarley were able to secure their first hits in their career at Reading.
