Girls Junior Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Lady Rangers Fall to Camden

Camden was able to earn a non-conference sweep against Reading on Thursday. The first game was very tight early as both teams struggled to get any momentum going. In the later innings, Camden was able to pull away and won 10-2. Suzanne Burlew went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles in the lead off spot. Karissa Shay was 2 for 4 with an RBI single. Tayler Coe also added an RBI single and finished 3 for 4 on the day as well as pitching an excellent game for the Rangers.
The second game started off with offensive fireworks as the Lady Rangers jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Camden did not hesitate to respond and posted 10 runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Lady Rangers mounted a comeback in the top of the fifth, scoring 5 runs and tying the score at 15-15. The Redskins would eventually break the tie and win the game in the bottom of the 7th inning in what was an incredibly entertaining game. Karissa Shay had a career day hammering two home runs (grand slam and 2 run shot) as well as another RBI double. Her totals for the day were 3 for 4 with 7 RBIs! It was an incredible accomplishment for the senior captain. Baleigh Irelan helped her cause going 4 for 6 on the day with an RBI single. Tayler Coe was also in on the action going 3 for 4.
The Lady Rangers have a jam packed week with 3 scheduled double headers and a tournament on Saturday at Vandercook Lake. Please come out and support our Rangers, we have had some great crowds and everyone involved in the program really appreciates it!
