Girls Junior Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Lady Rangers Split with Morenci

The Reading Softball Team hosted Morenci on Monday afternoon in a non-conference double header. The Lady Rangers started strong behind a solid performance on the mound by Tayler Coe. She notched another win on the season, 11-4, as she pitched a complete game with 5 strikeouts. Reading was aggressive at the dish and it all started with lead-off hitter Suzanne Burlew. She was 3 for 4 on the day with a triple and RBI single. On Karissa Shay’s first at-bat, she laced a double scoring Burlew, and with some smart base running, moved up on the throw and then scored on the passed ball to start things off. She ended 2 for 3 on the day. Baleigh Irelan has been hot at the plate lately, and continued with a 2 for 4 effort that included a double, and an RBI. Tayler Coe also helped her own cause going 2 for 3 and drawing a walk.
The second game started off rough for the Lady Rangers with a 4 error first inning that led to 7 Morenci runs. Reading was never able to recover and dropped the second game 18-4 in 5 innings. Burlew and Shay continued their success at the plate. Burlew was 2 for 2 and Shay went 2 for 3 with a double.
The big week for the Lady Rangers continue as they take on conference foe, Concord on Tuesday at Concord. Please come and support our Lady Rangers as they continue to strive for greatness.
