The Reading JV Football team hosted the Quincy Orioles this past Thursday at historic Barre Field.

The two teams would trade possessions to start the game.  After a Oriole punt it would take the Rangers just one play to score as Roger Hill found the end zone on a 42 yard touchdown run.  Aaron Bignell would add the two point conversion to make the score 8-0 Rangers midway through the 1st quarter.
Another stop from the Big Red defense would set up another Ranger offense drive.  It would take the Rangers 6 plays to cover 69 yards, as a Porter Mauk found Dilon Denison on 25 yard touchdown pass.  Gabe Rife would add the two point conversion to make the score 16-0 Rangers at the end of the 1st quarter.
The Ranger defense would make quick work of the Oriole offense again as Andrew Rhoades recovered a fumble at midfield.  It would again take the Rangers just 6 plays to score as Roger Hill found pay dirt for a 20 yard touchdown run.  Gabe Rife would add the two point conversion to make the score 24-0 Rangers at the half.
The Orioles would score to start the second half to make the score 24-6.  The Rangers would respond quickly as the would score on a 7 play 62 yard drive, capped off by a 8 yard touchdown run by Gabe Rife.  Aaron Bignell would add the two point conversion to make the score 32-6 Rangers with about 3 minutes to go in the quarter.
The Big Red defense would step up again and force an Oriole punt, which Porter Mauk would return 57 yards for a touchdown.  Aaron Bignell would kick the extra point to make the score 39-6.  A quarterback sack by Dilon Denison and blocked punt by Jake Elder would help keep the score 39-6 going into the 4th quarter.
The Orioles would add a score, but a big defensive stop by Braden Westfall on the two point conversion would hold the score to 39-12.  A pass breakup on a long 4th down by Dakota Kies and a touchdown saving tackle by Matthew Stewart would highlight the end of the final period, as the Rangers would win by a final score of 39-18.
“It was another solid effort, a great team win, and it is always fun to beat Quincy .”  said Coach Kerspilo.
The Rangers are now 4-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Big 8 conference.  The will travel to Union City to take on the Chargers next Thursday night.  Game time is 6:30 pm.
