Rangers News · Bell Stays in Reading

A ding-ta-ding-ta-ding-ding-ding-DONG!  A huge Ranger crowd traveled to Quincy to see the Rangers impress again with a 49-13 victory that keeps the bell in Reading.
The Orioles were reminded of the famous quote by Richard Dreyfuss from the movie Jaws, “We’re going to need a bigger boat”.  The LandSharks swarmed to the ball all night like Great Whites chasing chum.  The defense allowed only 4 first downs compared to the Rangers 20, and held Quincy to a negative 7 yards rushing on 19 carries.  Ten of the Orioles 19 rushes were tackled for a loss.  Nick Affholter led with 6 tackles, 2 for a loss. Ethan LoPresto and Ben Affholter each added 5 tackles and Elijah Strine chipped in a fumble recovery.
Meanwhile the offense was clicking, eleven different Rangers carried the ball for a total of 55 times and an unbelievable 542 yards.  LoPresto carried the ball 12 times for 185 yards and 4 TD’s, including TD runs of 26, 62, and 43 yards.  Tyler Whinnie added a 58 yard TD run and Elijah Strine and Tyler Hammill added touchdown runs of the shorter variety.  Matt Santi added 75 yards on 9 carries.  Obviously their is a lot of talent in the backfield but you don’t run for 300 yards let alone 500 yards without the road graders up front taking care of business. The line consists of Josh Johnson, Bryce Pagel, Damon Black, Nick Affholter, and Izac Reynolds at the starting positions, but also receive plenty of help from reserves Jason Orlowski, Kyle Templeton, Josh Wentworth, Chase Barnett, and Dalton Tesch.
The Rangers return home next week for Homecoming playing the very tough Chargers of Union City.  Last year the Rangers and Chargers had two tough battles with the Rangers coming out on top in both.  This looks to be an epic battle again, come on out and support your Rangers.  Come line the tunnel as the “sharks” get whipped into a feeding frenzy.
Ryan Rock and family our thoughts and prayers are with you all!
