Reading’s varsity boy’s and girl’s cross-country teams competed in the cool weather last night at the Springport Invitational. On the girl’s side, the Rangers took 5th place as a team. Medaling for the girls were Maggie Steele (23:50) who took 9th place, Emily Marquart (24:09) who took 11th place, Brooke Seals (27:34) who took 21st place, and Kayla Wohlheter (34:32) who took 30th place. Maggie, Emily, and Kayla each earned a new SPR, while Brooke earned a new PR. The Ranger boys also took 5th place and earned four individual medals. Leading the pack was Tyler Bays (19:08) who took 11th place, followed by Braeden Westfall (20:32) in 20th place, Jesse Cabrera (20:40) in 23rd place, and Ethan Wohlheter (28:38) in 30th place. All for boys also earned PRs. The Rangers return to competition this Saturday at the Homer Invitational. Girls run at 10:00am, boys at 10:45am. Additionally, the Homer Invitational is the first competition for the middle school runners. The middle school girls run at 11:30am with the middle school boys to follow immediately after.
