The Reading Rangers run their winning streak up to 10 games in a row and defeat the previously undefeated Cassopolis Rangers 28-6.  The Land Sharks were at it again holding Cassopolis to just 34 yards rushing on 17 carries.  The stout run defense forced Cassopolis to abandon their run game and go to the air where we had 4 interceptions in the 2nd half.  Hunter Midtgard snagged his 7th interception of the season, Porter Mauk and Gabe Rife each added their 4th and Dilon Denison grabbed his 1st.  Nick Affholter led the way with 7 tackles.  The dense essentially pitched another shout-out as Cassopolis lone score came on a kick return.
Offensively, the Rangers controlled the ball and dominated up front once again.  Despite leaving a couple of scores on the field with a fumble into the Cassopolis endzone on our 2nd drive and a near missed connection on a wide open pass in the endzone in the 3rd quarter the Rangers put up 28 points on a Cassopolis defense that had only yielded 17 points the entire season.  Hunter Midtgard paved the way on the ground with 112 yards on 16 carries, Elijah Strine added 78 yards on 10 carries, and Porter Mauk another 72 yards on 7 carries.  Mauk also completed 7 passes for 78 yards.  The Red and Gold Rangers tallied 16 first downs and held the Blue and White Rangers to just 3.
Next week the Rangers host Lenawee Christian in the Regional Finals.  This will be the final time our 17 seniors get to play at Barre Field regardless of the outcome.  Come on out to the game and send them off happy and watch a great game.  Friday night at 7:00.
