The Reading 8th grade boys’ basketball team played at Homer Thursday night, one night after a tough battle at Union City. It was quite an exciting game, as it went down to the wire and the Rangers overcame weary legs to eke out a 46-42 victory.
Up by 2 points with six seconds to go, Zackary Peiffer coolly sank two free throws to ice the game for the Rangers. It was a game that saw several lead changes, as well as a barrage of 3-pointers from Homer. The Rangers responded to every challenge in a loud, hostile environment.
Tayshawn Bester continued his great play with a monster game of 17 points, 15 rebounds, and intimidating defense. Alek Nash pumped in 10 points, several of which came after a Homer score. Colton Hoover had his best all-around game this year and also scored 9 points. Five other Rangers scored 2 points each (and every point was valuable)-Nathan Robbins, Aiden Bailey, Brayden Foley, Keegan Neely and Peiffer.
The Rangers next game is Monday, at home, as they put their 4-2 record on the line against the Bronson Vikings.
Good luck, Rangers.
