The Reading Rangers hosted the Concord Yellowjackets this past Tuesday night. The two teams would start out hot as a wild first quarter that included strong shooting from both teams. Porter Mauk’s 7 points along with 5 points from Dilon Denison would jumpstart the Rangers. An Eli Irelan 3 point shot would put the Rangers up 23-14 at the end of the 1st period.
In the second quarter Big Ben Affholter’s 10 points would help keep the Rangers up 35-26. The two teams would play an almost even 3rd period and the Rangers would lead 49-39 going into the final frame.
Concord continued to try to mount a comeback but a 3 point shot from Ben Affholter and 6 free throws from Nick Affholter would seal the deal on a 62-54 win.
“It was a solid effort and it’s never easy to get wins, especially in conference play, we’re on a roll the last couple of weeks and we’re going to keep working to continue to keep going on an even higher trajectory.” said Coach Kerspilo.
Ben Affholter led the Rangers with 19 points. Nick Affholter added 16 points. Porter Mauk finished with 11 points. Dilon Denison added 7 points and dished out 5 assists.
The Rangers are now 5-2 and 2-0 in the Big 8 conference. They will travel to Jonesville this Friday. Game time is 7 pm.
