In the 1st league meet of the year, Reading’s varsity wrestling team took on the Homer Trojans. The dual was an exciting one that keep the fans on the edge of their seats throughout. The match started at 103 pounds with Reading taking a quick 9-0 lead after the first two bouts of the night. The Trojans were able to control the middle weights though bringing the score to 34-15 in favor of Homer after the 160 pound weight class. Reading’s upper weights proved to be no match for the Trojans and the Rangers secured 6 points a piece at the 171, 189, and 215 weight classes bringing the dual score to 34-33 in favor of the Trojans before the last match of the night. Senior Josh Johnson was able to lock up the 39-34 win for the Rangers after earning a fall in a mere 16 seconds. Other winners for the Rangers were Hunter Dewey (103), Dalton Green (112), Lukas Selph (130), Ted Ankney (171), Matt Santi (189), and Elijah Strine (215). Selph, Santi, Strine, and Johnson all recorded falls in their matches. Seniors Dalton Green, Tyler Hammill, Jacob Lemmon, Ted Ankney, Matt Santi, Elijah Strine, and Josh Johnson were honored before the dual.
