The Junior Varsity Ranger Boys started of their season with a Victory, beating Jonesville 48-19. The game got off to a bit of a slow start, but tough defense saw the Rangers jump out to a 9-2 lead after 1 quarter. The aggressive Ranger defense kept Jonesville off balance all game long, and the Rangers were able to knock down some big shots along the way. 9 Different Rangers scored, led on the night be Jesse Cabrera who scored 9 points by knocking down three triples. Maverick Messenger had a strong outing on both ends of the floor, and scored 8 points. Zac Affholter, Brady Kling, and Luke Potter all netted 6 points apiece. Tayshawn Bester and Landen Clabaugh both got out in transition a couple times and each scored 4 points. Aiden Bailey knocked down a sweet three pointer in the 4th quarter for his 3 points. Simon Williams rounded out the Ranger scoring attack with 2 points of his own.
Getting a victory at Jonesville was a great way to kick of what will be a fast paced season. The win makes the Rangers 1-0. The Rangers will next play Springport at home Friday night, and then will travel to Bronson Saturday afternoon.
