The Reading Rangers Boys Varsity Basketball team traveled to Jonesville to take on the Comets to open their delayed season.
With just one day of regular “contact” practice the Rangers struggled to make baskets and hang onto the ball as they committed 31 turnovers on the night. A tough stretch to end the second period would find the Rangers down 23-12 at the half.
The Rangers would outscore the Comets 16-14 in the 3rd quarter and cut the lead to as little as five points in the fourth quarter, however they could never get over the hump and fell by a score of 48-35.
“We knew our first game could be a struggle with all the adversity that we have faced in trying to prepare for the season, we’re confident that as we get to be in a regular basketball routine we will show what we can truly do on the court.” said Coach Kerspilo.
The Rangers were led by Dilon Denison with 13 points. Eli Irelan and Brogan Wiler added 6 points each, with Brogan also hauling in 6 rebounds. Colton Wiler finished with 5 points and 5 rebounds on the night.
