The Reading Rangers Boys Varsity Basketball team traveled to Bronson to take on the Vikings this past Saturday.
The Rangers would lead 9-6 at the end of the first quarter with the help of six points from Porter Mauk. The team would lead most of the second quarter, however a late charge would put the Vikings up 21-20 at the half.
The two teams changed leads back and forth throughout the second half as the Vikings maintained a one point advantage and led 35-34 at the end of the third quarter.
The two teams continued to battle throughout the fourth quarter. After the Rangers went up 46-44 with just 30 seconds remaining, the Vikings answered with a 3 point play, to take a 47-46 advantage with 21 seconds remaining. The Rangers remained confident and patient coming out of the last time out of the game. The team would look for a quality shot and Gabe Rife found Eli Irelan wide open for a buzzer beating three point shot and a Ranger win 49-47!

The Rangers were led by Irelan, Mauk, and Dilon Dension who all scored 11 points each. Gabe Rife finished with 9 points including 7 in the pivotal final quarter. Colton Wiler led the way in rebounding with 9 on the night.
The Rangers are now 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big 8 conference, The team will keep the Sabbath Holy and turn around and face the Morenci Bulldogs at home on Moday night, game time is 7:00 pm.
