Rangers News · Three Up….Three Down for Rangers Boys Basketball

Coming into the final week of play before bracket seeding the Ranger Varsity Boys Basketball team needed to win all three of their games to maintain their position as the first seed in their postseason district.
The Rangers would do just that!
The Rangers started the week with a 64-56 win over the Quincy Orioles. Brogan Wiler had his best outing of the season leading the way with a 14 point effort. Eli Irelan and Colton Wiler each had 11 points with Colton snagging 9 rebounds.
Dilon Denison filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists. Gabe Rife and Porter Mauk contributed 8 and 7 points.
On Wednesday the Rangers traveled to Concord where they beat the Yellowjackets by a score of 53-49. Dilon Denison would lead the way with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Gabe Rife had 8 points, Eli Irelan 7 points, and Colton Wiler 6 points including two late free throws to seal the deal.
On Friday the Rangers hosted the Bronson Vikings. The Rangers came out cold trailing 18-3 minutes into the second quarter. When Porter Mauk erupted with four three pointers in the second quarter including a deep halftime buzzer beater to cut the deficit to 24-26 at the half.
The teams would battle to a 44-44 tie where Brogan Wiler put down a Thunder Dunk off of a missed shot to get the Rangers the lead. Bronson would come back and take a 53-52 lead with 26 seconds left. The Rangers would once answer the call as Dilon Denison made a basket with 10 seconds left and the Rangers would win 54-53.
Porter Mauk would lead the way with 20 points. Denison would finish with 13 points. Brogan Wiler and Gabe Rife would each contribute 6 points.
The three wins on the week helped the Rangers edge out Centerville as the #1 seed in their district and improve to 10-3 on the season.
They will host the Homer Trojans in the regular season finale this Friday. Game time is 7 pm.
