The Reading 8th grade boys concluded their season against Homer Monday night, and to say the least, the fans got their money’s worth.
With Homer leading most of the game, Brody Adams lay-in, after a bucket and a steal, tied the game at 21 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The fourth quarter saw several lead changes until Homer jumped out to a 5 point lead with a minute to go. An Adams layup set the stage for a buzzer beating “Curry-land” three pointer by Skyler Cooper to send the game into a shocking overtime 31-31.
The first overtime again fell into a see-saw battle, with each team scoring 5 points to send the game into a second overtime. Foul trouble added up for the Rangers, and they just ran out of scoring chances, losing 40-38.
In the scoring column for reading were Cooper, Adams, Carson Hamilton (who continued his all-around excellent play), Lukas Strine, Adrian Otis-Michael, Drew Elder and Joel Neukom.
It was a fitting end to a hard-fought season. Despite the 1-7 record, the Rangers battled hard in every game keeping all but one their games very close.
Great job, and great season, Rangers!
